Hello
I have always had a strong passion for mathematics and a deep interest in math Olympiads, which have challenged and excited me throughout my academic journey. My dedication to the subject is reflected in the fact that I completed the Grade 12 Kumon mathematics curriculum by the time I was in Grade 4, which gave me a solid foundation and advanced skills early on. I have always been someone who enjoys helping others succeed, and this motivated me to learn how to teach effectively. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I taught students online, an experience that allowed me to share my knowledge but now it has inspired me to explore different teaching methods and resources that could make learning math more engaging and accessible. This experience opened my eyes to the importance of designing educational content that is both clear and motivating for young learners. Through this project, I aim to combine my love for math with my natural inclination to teach and support others.
AIM
My aim is to teach children, from limited-resource backgrounds, mathematics by preparing them for prestigious Olympiads using these techniques. These techniques are both effective and engaging as I have learnt mathematics through a similar process. This innovative way (Vedic Maths) of learning maths using tricks and patterns helped me develop both my interest and speed while solving mathematics problems. The way that Kumon uses worksheets to teach students helped me to revise concepts and practice them with both a tutor and my own so that I can develop a habit and a “math brain”. I am trying to employ a similar method inspired by the way I learnt mathematics so that I can teach it effectively. I am trying to get as much reach as I can, I will try and approach as many students as I can and take under my wing
My project is therefore motivated by both personal interest and social responsibility: I want to provide children with the same confidence in mathematics that I developed, but in a way that is relatable, affordable, and accessible to students everywhere.
The website will serve as a platform for distributing worksheets, hosting explanatory videos, and having mock tests for a more holistic approach to learning and preparing for the Olympiad.
